2 fatalities in I-94 multi auto-pedestrian accident

Occasionally, while driving in the Southfield area, our readers may witness car accidents. Whether a driver stops to assist or decides to drive on is a decision every driver makes. Recently, a good Samaritan was killed after stopping to help the victim of a car accident on Interstate 94. The Troy woman was described as giving and generous. The pedestrian accident took place on her 43rd birthday.

Chesterfield police believe the woman got out of her car to help a man whose pickup had crashed into a construction zone sign at around 2 a.m. Both she and the other driver were killed as a result of a chain-reaction crash that took place soon after. Two additional cars and a semitrailer crashed, creating a multi-vehicle pileup.

Hit-and-run driver kills woman in Detroit

A pedestrian is no match for a car. In Detroit last week, a woman on foot was killed by a car that left the scene in a hit-and-run accident.

The woman, in her 50s, was hit just after 11:00 p.m. in the curb lane at an intersection. Police are trying to determine the identity of driver of the car that hit her and have asked the public to call in with tips.

This victim's family will never recover from the loss of their loved one. Lacking closure as to who killed her will only compound their sadness and sense of loss.

Michigan teen allegedly high on inhalants hits pedestrian

Driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol causes too many accidents on Michigan roads and highways. A recent pedestrian accident in Hartland exemplifies how a poor choice can leave chaos in its wake. According to police, a Michigan teenager made the terrible decision to inhale an aerosol product while driving in the parking lot of the high school in rural Hartland, leaving a pedestrian with serious personal injuries.

Officials say the 16-year-old driver of the car huffed the aerosol while driving, which caused the teen to faint. The car accelerated. A 15-year-old passenger in the car tried to steer the car out of the way of the pedestrian and another car, but the car hit the pedestrian at approximately 45 mph.

Detroit area teenager injured running across street to school

Detroit's streets are dangerous for pedestrians. On April 27, a Honda hit a student running to class at Henry Ford High School after she got off a city bus.

The high school student was lucky not to have suffered injuries worse than possible broken bones. Usually, when cars hit pedestrians the results can be far more tragic. The heavy weight of a motor vehicle, combined with its speed can easily cause catastrophic injuries.

Pedestrians including walkers, joggers, runners and even cyclists are all at a significant disadvantage when hit by a car.
