A Michigan man left his home on the morning of Jan. 5 likely expecting to return home safely, but a tragic accident would prevent him from ever doing that again. According to reports, the man was struck and killed on Interstate 696 as he was trying to change a tire on his vehicle.

The tragic pedestrian accident happened around 6:30 a.m. A Michigan state police trooper said several vehicles struck the man. The man was reportedly in his 40's, though little else is known about him.

The westbound lanes of the interstate were closed for a time as authorities investigated the fatal crash.

According to the news source, several other crashes occurred as vehicles attempted to avoid the accident.

Police have asked for the public's help in determining how the accident occurred.

As police officials continue their investigation, they will hopefully determine who was at fault. If another driver's negligence caused the man's death, they should be held responsible.

In cases like this, the family of the victim may be eligible for compensation. Although no amount of money can make up for their tragic loss, it may help ease any financial burdens.

Michigan residents who have been injured in a pedestrian accident or families who have lost a loved one may wish to work with an experienced personal injury attorney. An attorney knows the relevant laws, and can work to fully understand the cause of the accident. In the end, an attorney can help individuals and families receive the compensation they deserve.
