Any type of fatality during the holiday season is a tragedy. People often celebrate life during this time of year, yet some people will not make it through the season. Such was the case when a road near the Oakland County government complex had to be closed following a fatal car accident.

The accident happened on Dec. 21. According to the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office, the car accident took the life of one female motorist, but her identity has not been released. The accident involved the north and southbound lanes of Telegraph Road just north of Pontiac Lake Road. Oakland County sheriff's deputies say the accident occurred around 10 a.m. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

While the details of this fatal auto accident are still not clear, what is known is that one woman has died as a result of it. No doubt her family wants to know what happened here, and why they lost a loved one so suddenly.

When an accident of this nature takes place, it is often because one driver made a fateful mistake. If it is found that the driver in this case was negligent, the family of the victim, as well as anyone else who may have been injured, may have legal options that they can pursue in civil court. This type of action cannot bring the deceased back, but it may help the family move forward with their lives. When drivers are negligent, they should be held accountable for their actions.
